# Receiving Tips on Tip.md

## How Donations Work

Tip.md creates a streamlined tipping experience for both creators and supporters:

1. **Supporter Experience**
   - Supporter clicks your Tip.md button
   - They select a cryptocurrency and amount
   - Transaction happens directly from their wallet to yours
   - No account creation required for supporters

2. **Transaction Flow**
   - For Ethereum and Solana: direct on-chain transfers
   - For Bitcoin: Lightning Network payments
   - All transactions are processed client-side for maximum security

3. **Confirmation Process**
   - Tips appear in your dashboard history immediately
   - Blockchain confirmations depend on the network used

## Fee Structure

Tip.md operates with a simple and transparent fee model:

- No hidden charges or subscription costs
- No minimum withdrawal amounts
- Network transaction fees are paid by the sender

## Viewing Your Donation History

1. **Dashboard Overview**
   - Log in to your Tip.md account.
   - The main dashboard shows recent tips and total received, aggregated across all supported chains.

2. **Detailed History**
   - Navigate to "Transaction History".
   - View your complete tip history, including the blockchain and token used for each tip.
   - See transaction details for each tip, with links to the relevant blockchain explorer.

## Withdrawal Information and Accessing Funds

- Tip.md never holds your funds.
- All tips go directly to the wallet addresses you've specified in your profile.
  - For **Ethereum (L1) and Base (L2)** tips (ETH or USDC), these will be sent to the EVM-compatible address you've set as your `ethereumAddress` or `ethereumSplitAddress` in your Tip.md profile. To access these funds:
    - Ensure your wallet (e.g., MetaMask) is configured with both the Ethereum Mainnet and the Base network (Mainnet or Sepolia Testnet as appropriate). See our [Wallet Management](wallet-management.md) guide for instructions on adding Base to your wallet.
    - Switch between networks in your wallet to view your balances and transactions for each specific chain.
  - For **Solana** tips (SOL or USDC), these will be sent to your configured Solana address.
  - For **Bitcoin Lightning** tips, these are handled via OpenNode and credited according to their process, typically to your connected OpenNode account.
- You can manage or change your wallet addresses at any time through the [Wallet Management](wallet-management.md) section. Changes will apply to future tips.

## Tax Considerations

- Tips received are typically considered taxable income in most jurisdictions
- Tip.md provides downloadable transaction records for tax reporting via a simple request to support@tip.md
- Consult with a tax professional regarding your specific situation
